-Devils Glen DGC To Get New Pads

November 27, 2009
The disc golf course at Devils Glen Park in Bettendorf, Iowa is getting a face lift! The Parks Department has agreed to work with the local disc golfers to upgrade the tee pads at the course. Currently the course has rubber fly pads which are great, but the upgrade to concrete tees will make the course even better. The advantage of concrete is that it makes the course play more consistently in all types of weather conditions. The course has several holes in the wooded area with overhead tree coverage, which doesn't allow the rubber fly pads to dry out quickly after adverse weather. The course will now play much more consistently throughout the year. The tees are being dug out and framed by a group of local players, and the Parks Department will pour and pay for the concrete itself.

The pond is now at least 8 to 10 feet deep and has a new rip rap bank all the way around with netting underneath to help prevent eroding and silting. It's also a bit larger with no island at the north end. (More of the story...)

-R-Pro Dart by Innova Released

March 3, 2009
Innova released it's first disc in the new R-Pro plastic today when it introduced the Dart, a small diameter putter with a straight flight.  The Dart is especially good for long range putts and go-for shots.  It has a flight similar to the Aviar Putt & Approach but has less low speed fade and a little more range.  The nice thing about this disc, besides the improved grip, is that it holds the line for a long time.   R-Pro is good to grip and good to stick in the target. The R-Pro plastic is replacing the old Pro plastic, due to problems getting the Pro plastic from suppliers. Get more disc updates in our Disc Reviews.

-La Vie en Rose

February 14-15, 2009
Juliana Korver presents "La Vie en Rose", a "women only" event to help promote the women of dics golf.

In Juliana’s words:

“Are you curious why this disc golf adventure has the name that it does? Literally La Vie en Rose translates to “the life in rose”. The English equivalent to this is “life through rose-tinted glasses” or even “life is rosy”. If someone looks at something through rose-tinted glasses, they see only the pleasant parts of it. It is a way of life. It is an attitude that I aspire to maintain.

La Vie en Rose is a disc golf event that intends to combine many of the pleasant tournament aspects that we have experienced over the years as well as present new ones that will create a wonderful, memorable and rosy weekend. This event is about warm fuzzies, feeling good and friendship. I hope that you all can experience the weekend through rose-tinted glasses and perhaps even take the attitude home with you to help you appreciate all that is good in life.

This will truly be a unique weekend that I hope and expect you will love.”
