A Story by K.C. Randall from the QCDGC Newsletter..
The Quad City Disc Golf Club is proud to boast that we had the best Amateur Disc Golfer in the world last year. Chad Hein (Davenport, IA), PDGA #24347, won the PDGA Amateur points race for last year's disc golf season.
The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) has a points system in place for anyone hoping to be invited to World Championships. These point races have become a large part of the competition amongst top disc golfers in the world. The points are accrued by beating the
competition at PDGA sanctioned events. (The larger the event, the more points there are to earn.) Chad put together an unbelievable season. He was one of two amateur players in the world to win two PDGA sanctioned "A" tiered events, (to simplify the meaning behind "A" tier...just think that it means a whole lot of great players, because they are the largest and most competitive events.) He finished his season with 7300 points, 200 better than Mike Robinson (also from the Quad Cities), PDGA #24414, and close to 1000 better than the next.
The Quad Cities is loaded with talented disc golfers. Besides Chad and Mike, Chase Roberts, PDGA #20460, finished in 11th place over-all. There are plenty of other talented players in the area, and every year we're surprised with the quality of players that the Quad Cities produce.
